Reduce your stress and sleep more Stress, exhaustion and sleep deprivation ignite irrational cravings in the brain. This makes us want to reach out for high carb, salty, sugary foods. You are more likely to react badly to lifeās stressors if your blood sugar levels fluctuate by dipping up & down throughout the day, your body takes a spike in glucose then a dip that triggers strong cravings for sugary foods. If you are stressed out and, you then reach out for that chocolate bar, your body hits that āsugar highā which is always followed by a āsugar crash or low. When we donāt get enough sleep we can feel slushing, fatigued, dehydrated & more likely to make bad choices when it comes to food. With regard to making sure you get proper sleep, self control and the best of intentions are quickly forgotten in sleep deprived people. So look at your sleeping habits, try & get into a good routine at night, switch off your phone, computer or tv at least two hours before bed, avoid caffeine & invest in some good night time herbal teas, soak in a bath salt blend for at least 20/30mins to allow your body & central nervous system to relax, promoting a calmer mind & a better nights sleep. Once you get into a better sleeping pattern you are more likely to eat better or invest in better eating habits.
